John has been counseling people on how to achieve and maintain better health naturally for 25 years, and started Optimum Health in 1993. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Foods and Nutrition from the University of Alberta, and he is registered with the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants as a Nutritional Consulting Practitioner. John is also an ongoing student of the Institute for Functional Medicine. He has completed their training course, -Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice, and has been a member since 1998.

Maddie Laberge, BSc.

Registered Holistic Nutritionist

Maddie graduated in 2007 from the University of Manitoba after completing her Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Human Nutritional Sciences. Following her university studies, Maddie went on to work under a Master Herbalist, learning to use nutrition, herbal formulas, and live blood cell analysis as tools in the healing process.

Maddie also recently completed a comprehensive study in alternative healing methods through the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, achieving the designation as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. Maddie continues to educate herself and is excited to begin Rosemary Gladstar’s course, “The Science of Art and Herbalism”.

In addition to studying, Maddie leads an active lifestyle and tries to spend time in her love of nature as much as possible through outdoor activities, including completing a half marathon and enjoying general hiking, bonfires, and fresh country air.

Joining the team at Optimum Health Vitamins in March 2010, Maddie is now offering clients nutritional guidance and holistic approaches to educate and empower the individual, while striving to balance the body and spirit.

Elaine Doucette 

Certified Herbalist, Aromatherapist, Iridologist, Flower Essence Practitioner & Biomeridian Tech.

Elaine has been with Optimum Health Vitamins since 1999.

Elaine dispenses herbal & flower remedies, provides clinical consultation and will be offering herbal infusedworkshops starting Spring 2012 in Earth’s Aromatique – the create-your-own–skincare and herbal department within Optimum Health’s Southside location.

Elaine’s passion for learning and working closely with plants has made this the perfect position for her as she helps educate and empower her clients to care for themselves.

Her studies include completing the Plant Spirit Medicine program at the Northern Star College of Mystical Studies in 2008. This awarded Elaine with the designation of Certified Herbalist. Also with her many hours of clinical work from college during her practicum and since graduation she is currently in process of receiving designation as Registered Herbalist from the AHG.

Elaine is an active student of nature and as such has always been drawn to healthy eating and food preparation, sports, yoga and meditation. Pulling from this experience she designs nourishing protocols to achieve physical, mental and spiritual balance.

Elaine offers 15 minute “mini-consultations” to children and adults on Wednesday through Friday. She is also available for full nutritional, herbal & Iridology consultations as well. Her practice operates out of Earth’s Aromatique and Optimum Health Vitamins
